Its tradition dates back to the 17th century, when it functioned as a roadside inn called "The Green Ox" and offered only a handful of guestrooms. In 1845 the first train arrived at today's Masaryk Railway Station and the inn was reborn as a full-fledged hotel. Renamed "the English Court", it was host to many royals and other prominent guests who enjoyed the comfort of its spacious rooms and central location. In 1935 the hotel received another facelift and re-opened under its current name, "The Atlantic Hotel."
